Spellitaire

Spellitaire is a daily word puzzle that blends the strategy of Scrabble with the card play of Solitaire.

You're dealt a grid of letter cards—each with a point value and a hint of what's hidden underneath. Select cards from the top of stacks to build words. Used letters disappear, revealing what lies beneath.

Cards show how many of their kind remain. You can peek at the next layer—see if a vowel, consonant, or high-value letter is coming. But not which one. Use what you know—and what you almost know—to plan ahead. The longer and rarer the word, the higher your score. The challenge ends when you run out of playable words. Think carefully. Every letter counts.

I worked as both a designer and the engineer on the project. I was handed the initial prototype of the game and then took it all the while to final release. This included designing all the UI animations and feedback, balancing card scores and distributing, tracking player stats, analytics, and everything else that a needed a programmer to handle.
